NEVER PAY TO JOIN A SURVEY SITE:
If they ask you for money, it is a scam. Legitimate sites pay you for your opinions, not the other way around.
NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR BANKING OR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION:
True survey companies do not ask for this. There is no need for them to have it since they are the ones paying you.
DO NOT JOIN A DATABASE SERVICE:
A survey database service will take your information once, then submit it to many different places on your behalf. Why is this bad? Well, for starters, all they do is SELL the demographic information you give them to any third party they choose. You will end up with nothing but scams and spams in your inbox. You will be overwhelmed, frustrated, and will most likely just give up on the whole thing.
As monotonous as it is (and believe me, it is!) you need to go to each individual site and fill in your personal information and profiles at each one. This will give you a chance to view the sites, read through their policies and make the decision for yourself if this is a company you are comfortable giving your personal information to.
OPEN A FREE EMAIL ACCOUNT:
You will want to keep your survey emails separate from your personal. This will help you stay organized and focused. I personally use Gmail, but you can find many free email providers by doing a general search.
Make files or labels in your survey email account. When you have successfully completed a survey, drop it into the appropriate file. This will enable you to track your progress, as well as give you a record of your participation, which can be useful if you have not been given credit for a survey you know you took.
KNOW THE TYPE OF REWARD BEING OFFERED:
This may come as a surprise, but not all surveys are offered with a monetary value. Some offer predominately sweepstakes entries while others offer amazon.com gift certificates. And then there are the ones that are on the point system. You will need to read the sites information in order to determine exactly what you will get with their points. Generally speaking it should be actual cash, prizes or gift cards.
Don't disregard the mostly sweepstakes sites. These sites may offer you only sweeps entries at first, but after a month or so of diligent work you will begin to see more paid survey opportunities floating your way.
WHEN DOING SURVEYS...
Take your time, give honest and complete answers, be consistent. The marketing companies that are recruiting you have deception software that will alert them to people that may be giving fraudulent answers. This could be anything from taking a survey too fast or giving incomplete and/or inconsistent answers. They will remove you from membership and you will forfeit any earnings you have with them.
